The Tweed River Agricultural Society is once again beginning the search for its 2018 Showgirl Entrants. The showgirl competition comprises of two divisions: A junior competition for girls aged 13 to 17 years and a senior competition for girls aged 18 to under 25 years as of the 1st May 2019.
The showgirl competition is not a beauty pageant and aims to find passionate young women to become ambassadors for rural NSW, the Agricultural movement, the Agricultural show movement and our local community. Entrants do not need to have a rural background as they learn a lot about our local area by being involved in the showgirl competition.
All entrants gain access to invaluable life skills such as networking, public speaking and deportment techniques which can help with enhancing opportunities for the entrants either in starting or further developing their careers. Entrants develop and further their knowledge of the local industries, become active community members and are given the opportunity to become role models in the local community whilst having fun and meeting new people.
If chosen to represent The Tweed River Agricultural Society as the 2018 Showgirl and Junior Showgirl the girls will have the opportunity to compete at a Zone final. This opportunity can further enhance the overall experience and can create great connections in other areas of NSW for the showgirls. The senior showgirl if selected at zone level has the opportunity to then compete at The Sydney Royal Show.
We encourage any girls aged 13 to under 25 years who are interested in learning about our agricultural industries, how the Murwillumbah Show works or just looking to gain some confidence and life skills to contact the Tweed River Agricultural society to find out more about the competition or how to get involved. The Tweed River Agricultural Society can also help you get in contact with our Showgirl coordinator and current showgirls if you would like to discuss entering the competition with them.
